The French Two-Seater Sofa

This small French sofa could date from as early as the late nineteenth century. It features a classic ‘shaped’ back that was developed into the moustache sofas of the later Art Deco period. Originally covered in silk, the sofa has been recovered in leather during the twentieth century.

As much as possible of the original springs and stuffing will be cleaned and retained in refurbishing this chair using traditional techniques. A tapestry style polycotton fabric has been selected to enhance the inherent country style aesthetic of the piece.
